A wild stolen car joyride has come to a crashing end in a backyard pool on the Gold Coast.
The chaos first unfolded around 1am on Wednesday after a BMW was stolen from a home on Acero Court in Nerang.
The thief behind the wheel then rammed a taxi from behind, forcing the vehicle to flip, before threatening the driver and demanding fuel.
The taxi driver and passenger were safely removed from the vehicle and looked over by paramedics.
The stolen BMW continued to speed off along Beaudesert Nerang Road before crashing into a fence and parked horse float.
The 22-year-old man then fled on foot into a neighbouring property where he attempted to steal another vehicle but ended up in a resident’s backyard pool while trying to escape.
The fumbling thief was arrested at the scene by police and taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for observation.
Investigations continue.
