Multiple fire crews are battling a bushfire burning in the Gold Coast hinterland.
The blaze started in Bonogin Valley just before 2pm on Thursday and quickly spread, with 20 crews currently working to battle the flames while more are on the way.
The Bonogin Valley Rural Fire Brigade is urging residents to steer clear of the area.
“Fire crews are currently responding to a bushfire incident near the top of Bromfield Drive, Bonogin Valley,” it said in a post to Facebook.
“We ask residents and members of the public to please stay away from the area and avoid unnecessary travel along Bromfield Drive while emergency services are operating.
“Keeping the area clear allows firefighters and emergency vehicles to safely access the incident and crews to focus on their work.”
The Queensland Fire Department has also issued a smoke warning for Bonogin, Neranwood and Austinville.
