If you found yourself reaching for an extra blanket this morning, you certainly weren’t the only one.

Winter has well and truly settled in across the Gold Coast, delivering an icy wake-up call for locals as temperatures plummeted into the single digits.

Gold Coasters woke to a shock chill, with the mercury dropping to just 7C in Coolangatta, 8C in Burleigh, and 9C at the Seaway.

However, the “feels like” temp felt significantly icier for those game enough to embark on an early morning walk.

Meantime, those further inland bore the brunt of the cold snap, with Canungra locals shivering through a low of just 2.8°C.

In some good news, the mercury is forecast to climb to a beautiful top of 23C today accompanied by clear, glorious sunshine.

We can also expect the blue skies and sunny conditions to remain for the rest of the week, though overnight and early morning temperatures will stay quite chilly.
