A teenage boy has been arrested after he was allegedly busted with a massive machete down his pants at a Gold Coast train station.
Police were conducting wanding patrols at the Helensvale station around 9pm on Wednesday when they made the shock find.
A search of the teen uncovered the 30cm weapon tucked into his waist band, with the 14-year-old arrested at the scene.
Queensland Police have confirmed the Parkwood boy will now be dealt with under provision of the Youth Justice Act.
WATCH:
The late-night wanding operations were part of Jacks Law, which has now scanned over 30,656 people with 225 weapons located since it was legislated and expanded in July last year.
Jack’s Law allows officers to use handheld metal-detectors to scan people and their belongings in public areas including Safe Night Precincts, shopping centres, public transit hubs and on public transport, to detect knives and other dangerous weapons.
