Gold Coast Supercars driver Broc Feeney has finally realised his goal of winning at home, taking out Sunday’s race at the GC500.

The 24-year-old dominated the action all day, posting the fastest time in the qualifying session before securing pole position with the fastest lap in the top-ten shootout.

Feeney then essentially led from start to finish, raising the first-place surfboard for the first time in five attempts.

“I was emotional starting that last lap. I nearly looped it into turn one. I was tearing up,” Feeney said.

“It means so much. I absolutely love the Gold Coast. I’m so proud to call it home and to have so many friends and family here this weekend.

“Just to come so close the last few years. I’m just absolutely over the moon.”

Despite the recent wet weather, Sunday’s race was run on dry conditions, with Feeney beating home Brodie Kostecki, with race one winner Chaz Mostert in third.

It now puts Feeney just four points behind championship leader Matt Payne.

Ryan Wood, Kai Allen and Jack Le Brocq were eliminated from the finals series, leaving seven drivers still in the championship race heading into Sandown in two weeks.
