Hunt for arsonist following Mermaid Beach house fire

Police are hunting an alleged arsonist following the attempted firebombing of a home in Mermaid Waters.

A flammable object was hurled onto the roof of a house along Hooker Boulevard around 7pm on Tuesday.

According to police, the fire spread to the garage of the property, causing damage to a silver Mercedes-Benz B200 that was parked inside.

A man was home at the time and suffered burns to his arms while attempting to douse the flames, while a woman managed to escape physical injury.

Investigations into the blaze are ongoing.

Police are appealing for anyone in the area at the time of the incident, who may have relevant CCTV or dashcam footage, to come forward.
