Police have released CCTV vision following two shocking firebombs in Arundel they believe were “payback” attacks.

Three people were caught deliberately setting alight two separate units in a complex along Distribution Court.

The first arson attack occurred around 3.30am on Saturday, June 24 at a local family business called ‘The Bento Buzz’.

One balaclava-clad man was caught driving up in a white Hyundai hatchback, before jumping the fence and setting the store alight.

Two attackers then struck again just four days later at around 3.30am on Wednesday, June 28.

This occurred at the same complex, but this time at Eye Candy Motorsports, which is owned by Instagram influencer Troy Candy.

Detective Inspector Mark Proctor says they believe the attackers made a mistake by torching the first business.

“We do believe they are linked, we believe the first fire was an accident and that they got the wrong unit,” Detective Inspector Proctor says.

“We believe they came back a second time and were better prepared and they created much more damage,

“We think the second unit is their intended target.”

Police say they’re working to find a motive.

“Obviously it’s some sort of payback, or to cause some sort of financial detriment, “Detective Inspector Proctor says.

“His [Troy Candy’s] business is ruined, it’s now closed, it was uninsured.”
