Lifeguards to make call on Gold Coast beaches after days of wild surf

There’s a chance beaches across the Gold Coast could finally reopen today following days of wild weather.

Several days of huge swell has left a majority of our beaches off-limits to swimmers, including all beaches north of Miami yesterday.

Conditions have started to ease today, with lifeguards expected to reassess beaches later this morning to determine if any can reopen.

It comes as Acting Mayor Mark Hammel prepares to announce the City’s latest dredging activity today, with the start of the annual Burleigh Heads dredging project.
