Manhunt after driver does runner from nasty Gold Coast crash

Police are searching for a driver who fled the scene of a nasty crash on the northern Gold Coast overnight.

The vehicle was travelling along Global Plaza Road in Oxenford around 7pm when it swerved off the road before plunging down a small embankment.

It then came to a stop after colliding with a footbridge.

Police rushed to the scene, but the driver was nowhere to be found when they arrived with officers now working to locate the person behind the wheel.
