A man is in custody after motorists performed a citizens’ arrest on the M1.
A white Hyundai was spotted speeding and driving recklessly on the motorway around 10.30pm on Sunday before it crashed into the back of an orange Isuzu D-Max.
The Hyundai continued but didn’t get far before other motorists intervened.
“Because of the damage, that vehicle was only able to travel a short distance and they were able to detain the male who was the driver,” Superintendent Brett Jackson told the ABC>
“Police arrived and were able to arrest the male who was driving the Hyundai.”
A search of the man’s vehicle allegedly uncovered drugs and drug paraphernalia.
A 31-year-old Burleigh Waters man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for blood samples with charges expected to be laid.
The driver of the D-Max suffered minor injuries in the crash.
