Anzac Day services across the South East, including here on the Gold Coast, are expected to be hampered by wet weather.

The Bureau of Meteorology has warned that Thursday and Friday is forecast to be a soggy affair, with more than 100 millimetres of rain forecast.

At least 70 millimetres of rain has been forecast to fall on Thursday alone, with another 45 millimetres and even a possible thunderstorm on the cards for Friday.

It’s all thanks to a coastal trough moving up from New South Wales which is expected to stall and slow down once it reaches the south east.

At least nine dawn services are being held from the Tweed to Runaway Bay early tomorrow morning, followed by Anzac Day marches and ceremonies.

Most are expected to go ahead rain, hail or shine to remember and give thanks to all those who fought for our freedoms and those who continue to serve our country today.
