It’s tools down for workers on the Gold Coast’s light rail stage three as the City braces for an influx of holiday-makers over the Easter school holidays.
GoldlinQ has confirmed workers will halt construction on the Gold Coast Highway stretch from Mermaid Beach and Burleigh from midday Thursday and not restart until Saturday 26 April.
“This will allow businesses in Mermaid Beach, Nobby Beach, Miami and Burleigh to make the most of the Easter holiday trading period,” GoldlinQ spokesperson Phil Mumford said.
“Throughout this period, we would encourage people to continue to ‘Love their Local’, and support businesses in these precincts, along the light rail route, during the Easter and Anzac Day long weekends.
“It’s the perfect time to have a pause in works when tens of thousands of people flock to the Gold Coast from all over the country to have a break before returning to work and school, and when the weather is still warm.
“The roads are expected to be busy and the stop in works will assist motorists to more easily get where they need to go”.
