The Queensland Government has confirmed its commitment to Schoolies on the Gold Coast, in a major boost to the end of year celebrations.
Despite a drop in graduation crowds in recent years, the State Government has confirmed it will continue to fund the event to keep the iconic Surfers Paradise tradition alive.
Police Minister Dan Purdie also shut down any speculation regarding a scaled-back operation, firmly stating that the safety and entertainment framework will remain in place.
“Twelve hard years they deserve to celebrate, and I think we need to make sure they have a safe place to do that,” Minister Purdie said.
He also praised the overall conduct of recent party-goers, pointing to an increased police presence and proactive security measures as key factors behind a shift in the event’s dynamic.
“My personal experience in the last two years walking the beat down at Schoolies with police doing wanding operations, it’s been a positive atmosphere,” he added.
The annual celebrations will take over the glitter strip from November 21, 2026.
