A 16-year-old boy has been arrested and charged over the alleged violent assault of a worker at the Gold Coast Aqua Park in Southport.

The 20-year-old male employee was allegedly punched in the face after confronting three teenagers, aged 15, 16 and 17, at the inflatables attraction around 6.15pm on Sunday.

It’s understood the worker asked the trio to leave after noticing they were trespassing and had not paid to use the Aqua Park.

One of the teens then struck him in the face, leaving him in hospital with a split lip and bruising.

“The 20-year-old was just going about his normal day business, asking people to leave that shouldn’t have been there and this is how they reacted,” Superintendent Peter Miles said.

“It’s just over the top and so unnecessary”.

The three teenagers, all from Logan, were taken into custody at the scene, with the 16-year-old who allegedly dealt the blow charged with trespass and assault occasioning bodily harm.

The other two teenagers were released with cautions.
