Two people are undergoing treatment in hospital this morning following a nasty crash in Guanaba.

Their car is believed to have lost control at the intersection of Guanaba Creek Road and Stuart Road around 9pm on Monday.

It then ploughed into a nearby power pole, with the impact so severe the vehicle wrapped around the pole, leaving the 19-year-old female passenger trapped.

She suffered pelvic and lower limb injuries and was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.

The driver, a 25-year-old man, was also rushed to hospital in a serious condition after suffering significant upper limb injuries.

The Forensic Crash Unit is now trying to piece together exactly what unfolded in the moments leading up to the crash.

Investigations are ongoing.
