Two men have been caught-out allegedly breaking into a supermarket in Southport to steal copper and batteries.

Police were called to the scene around 3.54am last Friday after security spotted the pair allegedly breaking into the business.

“Upon arrival, police sighted the pair leaving the scene on foot,” Queensland Police said.

“One of the alleged offenders was located nearby and taken into police custody.

“A police dog unit was deployed and located the second alleged offender in long grass at the edge of a nearby carpark”.

A 56-year-old Arundel man and 41-year-old Labrador man have since been charged with a string of offences, including enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence and possess thing intended for use in connection with an offence.
