A Gold Coast man has taken “business as usual” to a whole new level, clocking on for work right after discovering his life-changing $5 million win in Monday night’s Set for Life draw.

The Worongary resident held the only division one winning entry across the entire country, scooping an instant $200,000, along with $20,000 every month for the next 20 years.

The lucky local said he was still wrapping his head around the reality of his windfall after being contacted by an official from The Lott.

“Thank you very much!” he laughed.

“I saw it this morning and I was in shock. I thought ‘Is that right?’.

“I’m at work right now so I think it’s going to be a bit hard to focus.

“I don’t plan on quitting or anything either. I only started this job a few months ago.

“I’ve already told a friend. I’ve been talking about it with them for 10 years because I’ve been playing since the game started.

“Even though you always hope to win, you know the odds and you don’t think it’ll ever happen to you.”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his newfound fortune, the man admitted all those years of dreaming suddenly went out the window.

“It’s a weird feeling. You always think about all the things you’d do but then when it happens, your mind goes blank,” he said.

“I honestly think I’ll just save it and set myself up for later down the track.

“The only thing I can think of doing in the near future is going out for dinner to celebrate!”
