A p-plate driver has been caught overtaking an unmarked police car while travelling 155 kilometres on Queensland’s Fraser Coast region.
It happened around 2pm on May 13 on Brooweena-Woolooga Rd in Teebar, which is a 100km/h zone.
The man behind the wheel, a 19-year-old Torbanlea man, was fined $1919 and eight demerit points, and had his licence suspended for six months.
In the bodycam footage, the police officer can be heard telling the driver his behaviour is “absolutely disgusting” while asking if he has any respect for his passenger or other road users.
The driver then admits it was “stupid”.
There have been 15 lives lost on roads across the Fraser Coast district so far this year, an increase of two compared to the same period last year.
