A major homicide investigation is underway after a child was found dead at a home in Ipswich.
Emergency crews made the grim find after being called to a property in Lowood around 11pm on Monday.
“A child was located unresponsive and declared deceased at the scene,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
A crime scene was declared and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death are now underway.
Police have confirmed a 31-year-old woman is currently assisting officers with inquiries.
“The woman and the child were known to each other however we are unable to comment further on their relationship at this stage,” police siad.
There is no ongoing threat to the community.
