A 22-year-old man has been charged with murder following the tragic death of a baby boy back in 2024.

Detectives from the Bundaberg Child Protection and Investigation Unit arrested the man over the weekend following a protracted police investigation, charging him with one count each of murder and torture (domestic violence).

It comes over two years after the four-month-old was airlifted to the Queensland Children’s Hospital before passing away days later.

“It will be alleged at 5.18pm on 26 February, 2024 a baby boy was transported to Bundaberg Hospital before being airlifted to the Queensland Children’s Hospital on February 27,” Queensland police said.

“The boy passed away in hospital on 3 March, 2024”.

The man is due to appear in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court for the first time today.
