It appears the need for a physical wallet is becoming more and more irrelevant.

From today, Queenslanders will be able to access their driver’s licence on their phone.

New digital licence technology is being rolled out across the entire state today following successful trials in regional areas including Townsville and the Fraser Coast.

All motorists have to do is download the app, which Transport Minister Mark Bailey says has been put through rigorous testing, from the Apple and Google Play Stores.

“Nothing is more important than the safety and security of your private information,” Mr Bailey said.

“We worked with our counterparts in other Australian states that have digital licences, to ensure we learnt from the way they developed and released their apps.

“Queensland’s Digital Licence app will set the standard for mobile driver licence apps across Australia and the world.”
