Body found as bushfires continue to rage in Qld

A devastating bushfire in Queensland’s Western Downs has turned deadly overnight.

Authorities have discovered a body in the Tara area, where residents have been told to leave as the blaze continues to burn out of control.

Queensland Police have confirmed they are investigating the tragic discovery and will prepare a report for the coroner, but no further information has been released.

At least five structures have been destroyed, including multiple homes, with fears a number of others could be lost.

An emergency warning remains in place for Tara, Kogan, Goranba, Weranga, Wieambilla and Millmerran Woods, with residents there told to leave immediately.

A Watch and Act alert is also in place for Cypress Gardens and Millmerran Downs.
