A woman will front court today charged with the attempted murder of a three-month-old baby girl in Ipswich.

Emergency services were called to a home in Ripley around 5.30am on Saturday following reports of an alleged wounding.

“On arrival, officers located a three-month-old infant with what appeared to be a stab wound to the abdomen,” Queensland Police said.

Police provided immediate first aid to the baby before the child was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

A 26-year-old woman who lives at the home was arrested without incident.

She’s since been charged with attempted murder and has been held in police custody to front Ipswich Magistrates Court today.

A crime scene has been declared at the house, with investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident ongoing.
