A woman will front court today after she allegedly stole a car with a baby in the back seat in Brisbane.

It’s understood the mother was standing in the car park of a Saint Pauls Terrace building in Spring Hill around midday on Sunday, when another woman not known to her allegedly jumped into the vehicle and took off.

The 33-year-old woman tracked the car to Leichhardt Street on her phone, where she tried to stop it and restrain the driver.

She sustained minor injuries in the process.

Bystanders assisted with restraining the other woman until police arrived and took her into custody.

The 32-year-old, of no fixed address, has been charged with one count each of child stealing, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlicenced driving.

Thankfully, the 18-month-old child in the backseat of the vehicle was unharmed.
