Driver killed after car crashes into tree in Tweed Heads

A man has died in a horror crash in Tweed Heads overnight.

Emergency crews were called to Ducat Street around 11.30pm following reports a vehicle had slammed into a tree.

Paramedics desperately worked to save the driver, a man aged in his 30s, but he sadly could not be revived and died at the scene.

Officers from the Tweed-Byron Police District have established a crime scene as investigations into the crash continue.

They’re appealing for anyone with information about the crash, or anyone who was in the vicinity at the time with any available dashcam or mobile phone footage to contact Tweed Heads Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
