The battle lines for the State of Origin decider are officially being drawn in the Tweed, with the NSW team setting up camp just a stone’s throw from the Queensland border.
After assembling in Sydney yesterday, the Blues will relocate to Kingscliff today to prepare for the third and final game of the series at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday 8 July.
Their camp will kick off with an event at Cabarita Beach on Tuesday, with Blues coach Laurie Daley and skipper Isaah Yeo set to launch the NSW Rugby League’s 2026 Regional Roadshow for Transport NSW as part of The Knock-On Effect campaign.
More than just football, the roadshow brings a lifesaving message to the Tweed community.
Partnering with the NSW Government, the initiative draws a powerful parallel between rugby league and real life, reminding young drivers that one bad decision behind the wheel can devastate an entire community, just like a costly drop-ball can derail a match.
To date, the campaign has successfully delivered its crucial road safety message to over 8,000 participants across 53 regional towns.
Meantime, the Maroons have headed deep into their own heartland, hosting a fan day in Rockhampton today to rally their own regional army.
Following the fan festivities, Billy Slater’s squad will retreat back to their training base at Twin Waters on the Sunshine Coast to ramp up their preparations for the impending battle.
The series is currently tied at 1-all after the Blues claimed Game One in Sydney 22-20 before Queensland secured Game Two 44-24 in Melbourne.
