Two killed in horror M1 crash at Chinderah

Two people have been killed in a horror crash in the Tweed overnight.

Emergency crews were called to the M1 Motorway at Chinderah around 6pm on Monday following reports of a serious crash.

Upon arrival, they found a car had left the road and slammed into a tree.

Both the driver and front seat passenger died at the scene.

A crime scene has since been established, with specialist officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit looking into the circumstances leading up to the crash.
