LATEST @ April 15 | An 18-year-old has been charged with attempted murder over a horror home invasion and armed robbery on the Gold Coast.

Police were called to a home on Plateau Crescent at Carrara around 4am on Tuesday following reports an unknown offender had forced their way into the property.

Detective Inspector Mark Mooney said a couple, a 38-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman, woke to the sound of their dogs barking and a flashlight coming from their kitchen.

The man then confronted a stranger lurking inside their property and an altercation broke out, with the resident stabbed eight times.

The woman then intervened and helped remove the intruder from the home when she also suffered a cut to her chest.

The man was rushed to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition, while the woman was taken stable and has since been discharged.

Police have since confirmed the same offender was also behind a terrifying armed robbery which occurred in the carpark of a fast-food restaurant in Nerang just hours earlier.

A 21-year-old man had organised to meet up with someone he had spoken to on social media for the purpose of selling four luxury watches.

However, when he arrived and got into the potential buyer’s vehicle, the teen pulled a knife and demanded the watches.

The 21-year-old man jumped out of the dark-coloured SUV, which was last seen fleeing on Pappas Way.

Following investigations into both incidents, the 18-year-old from Carrara has since been charged with a string of offences including attempted murder and assault occasioning bodily harm.

He’s also been charged with armed robbery, unlawful possession of category m weapon (knuckle dusters), enter dwelling with intent at night, attempt to enter dwelling at night, unlawful possession of explosive (ammunition) and two counts of possession of dangerous drugs (testosterone and cannabis).

He’s due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.

EARLIER @ April 14 | A man is fighting for life after being stabbed multiple times in a violent home invasion on the Gold Coast this morning.

Police were called to a home on Plateau Crescent at Carrara around 4am following reports an unknown offender had forced their way into the property.

It’s understood a man and woman woke to the sound of the intruder, with an altercation then breaking out inside the home.

A man in his 30s was stabbed multiple times in the chest, while the woman suffered minor injuries.

The man was rushed to hospital in a life-threatening condition, while the woman was taken stable.

A crime scene has been declared at the home, which remains taped off this morning.

Police are appealing for anyone with information, dash cam or CCTV footage to come forward as investigations continue.
