A manhunt is underway after a man was assaulted with a table leg and robbed during a terrifying home invasion in Hope Island.
Police say the 65-year-old resident was inside his home on the Parkway around 8.20pm on Friday when he was confronted by an unknown male who entered the property through the front door.
“It will be further alleged the offender, armed with a table leg and wearing a face covering, demanded jewellery before striking the occupant to the legs,” Queensland Police said.
The offender then allegedly stole a bracelet, gold ring, and a sum of cash before fleeing the scene in a grey Audi Q5.
The resident was treated for minor injuries.
Police are now appealing for anyone who may have seen the Audi in the Hope Island or Sanctuary Cove areas between 8pm and 9pm, or who may have relevant vision, to come forward.
Investigations are ongoing.
