UPDATE @ APRIL 17: The Forensic Crash Unit has confirmed it’s investigating a horror crash in the hinterland that claimed the life of a Gold Coast man.

Emergency crews were called to Beaudesert Nerang Road at Witheren just before 9am on Thursday following reports of a serious crash.

Initial investigations suggest a Suzuki motorcycle collided with a truck travelling in the opposite direction near the Coomera River Bridge.

The motorbike rider, a 28-year-old Coomera man, died at the scene.

The 30-year-old male driver of the truck was not physically injured.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has vision to come forward.

Forensic Crash Unit investigations into the circumstances leading up to the crash are ongoing.

EARLIER @ APRIL 16 | A major road in the Gold Coast hinterland has been closed in both directions following a horror crash.

A motorbike and truck collided on Beaudesert Nerang Road at Witheren, just east of Canungra, at around 9am.

Grave concerns are held for the motorcyclist involved.

A QAS spokesperson says no transports to the hospital have been made from the scene.

The roadway is a major road in and out of Canungra from the Gold Coast.

Diversions are in place, with motorists urged to avoid that route if possible.
