The man accused of delivering the fatal blow that killed a young man in Burleigh Heads has been committed to stand trial.

Austin Lewis Blaney Ballard, 20, is charged with unlawful striking causing death after allegedly kicking Cameron Duce in the head during a late-night brawl in September 2024.

The 22-year-old was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital where he died a week later due to severe head injuries.

A committal hearing came to an end in Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday after hearing from more than 20 witnesses.

The Magistrate determined there was enough evidence for a jury to potentially convict.

Mr Ballard will face trial at the Supreme Court in Brisbane at a date yet to be set.
