Man suffers burns as firefighters battle massive Gold Coast house fire

A home in Molendinar has been destroyed in a massive fire.

The inferno has engulfed a single-storey property on Coachwood Drive after erupting just before 9am, with half a dozen fire crews working to douse the flames.

A man in his 40s was the only person home at the time, and has suffered burns to his back.

He was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Police are also on scene, with traffic diversions in place.

The public is asked to avoid the area.
