A man wanted over a months-long crime spree across the South East has been arrested in dramatic scenes on the Gold Coast.
Police received a tip-off that the 28-year-old was at an address on Racecourse Drive in Bundall around 12.15pm on Saturday, with officers rushing to the scene.
Upon arrival, police attempted to engage with the man, however he fled to a nearby stolen Toyota Aurion, where he armed himself with a knife.
Officers were able to successfully taser the man before taking him into custody a short time later.
The 28-year-old from Logan has since been charged with four counts of stealing of a vehicle, two counts of stealing, and one count each of arson, possess used utensils, obstruct police, possession of knife in a public place, possess dangerous drugs, possess s4 medicine.
He’s also been charged with an additional 65 offences in relation to several property and dangerous driving incidents over the past several months in Queensland, including the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Logan, Gold Coast and Mackay areas.
The man’s been refused police bail and is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.
