The State Government has launched the Queensland Educational Leadership Program to provide free training for educational leaders in Free Kindy services.
Developed alongside the Queensland University of Technology and ELACCA, the five-year initiative aims to strengthen the early childhood workforce and improve safety and learning standards.
Announced on Early Childhood Educator’s Day, the program features two training streams based on experience.
An Advanced Course for leaders with over three years of experience is currently open for enrollment, while a Foundations Course for newer leaders will launch next year.
Minister for Education John-Paul Langbroek said the $2.75 million investment over five years was a gamechanger.
“The Queensland Educational Leadership Program is about empowering our hardworking educational leaders to gain new credentials, lead with confidence, and make a lasting impact on children’s learning and development,” Minister Langbroek said.
“Early childhood educators and leaders play a vital role in shaping the future of Queensland’s children and keeping them safe.
“QELP reflects our commitment to growing a high-quality, safe and strong early childhood sector in Queensland and I encourage staff to apply.
“Today is Early Childhood Educator’s Day and my message to staff across Queensland is thank you for your leadership, dedication and professionalism.
“The Crisafulli Government is proud to deliver Free Kindy, while also expanding access to early education services across the state.”
Industry and academic leaders, including QUT’s Professor Terri Bourke and ELACCA CEO Dr Amanda Walsh, welcomed the initiative.
“The more we do to support leaders in our sector, and to encourage the next generation of leaders, the better and safer we make early learning for children,” Dr Walsh said.
