The Gold Coast’s newest train station has opened to commuters with the first services rolling through Hope Island this morning.

The first train arrived at the platform just before 4.30am on Monday.

Hope Island is one of three new train stations for the Gold Coast as part of the Cross River Rail project.

Pimpama station opened in October last year, while work continues on the new station at Merrimac.

The new Hope Island station is located next to Mangrove Jack Park off Hope Island Rd.

The station has been built with accessibility and functionality in mind, with lift access, 210 parking spaces, ‘kiss n ride’ bays, and enhanced accessible boarding points.

To coincide with the opening, there have been minor adjustments made to the timetable for train services on the Gold Coast line.

Routes 711 and 725 have been adjusted to take in the new station.

Commuters are urged to check the Translink website for more details on the changes ahead of the station opening.
