Thick fog is causing chaos for commuters across Brisbane this morning.
At least three flights have had to be diverted to the Gold Coast, including one from LA, with visibility in Brisbane far too poor for planes to touch down.
Qantas flight QF016 from Los Angeles was due to land at Brisbane International Airport at 5am but was redirected south and landed safely at Gold Coast Airport at 5.45am.
A road weather alert has also been issued, with motorists urged to take extra care while heading to work this morning.
“Reduced visibility in fog will make road conditions dangerous during Thursday morning in the Brisbane Area,” The Bureau of Meteorology said.
A spokesperson for Brisbane Airport confirmed it was mainly arriving flights that are being impacted by the adverse weather conditions.
“Brisbane Airport is currently experiencing thick fog across the precinct,” Peter Doherty said.
“While conditions have not impacted departing flights, there has been one diversion with a flight from Los Angeles heading to the Gold Coast.
“We continue to monitor conditions closely.”
