Two Gold Coast teens have been charged following an alleged stolen car spree through Logan, which ended with the attempted carjacking of an innocent motorist.
Police allege a Holden Calais was stolen during a break-in at a Chapel Hill home around 2am on August 25, before the vehicle was spotted travelling at speed through the Logan District about 9.30am.
Officers tracked the car and successfully deployed a tyre deflation device at Loganlea, eventually bringing it to a stop.
The two boys jumped from the Holden and attempted to steal a black Kia Carnival from a 47-year-old woman on Jutland Street at Kingston, but were interrupted by a member of the public.
The pair then allegedly fled on foot before being arrested nearby, while the woman thankfully escaped the ordeal without injury.
A 17-year-old Surfers Paradise boy and a 16-year-old Coomera boy have each been charged with a string of offences, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, fraud, attempted fraud and obstructing police.
The older teen is also facing an unlicensed driving charge, with both boys scheduled to face Beenleigh Children’s Court on Wednesday.
