Gold Coast M1 shut down after Mustang loses control, flips onto roof in wet weather By Shanee Dobeson 4th March PHOTO: QPS Police have confirmed they’re investigating a nasty crash that shut down several lanes of the Pacific Motorway overnight. A Ford Mustang was travelling northbound on the M1 at Oxenford around 9.30pm, when the driver allegedly lost control in the wet weather. The vehicle aquaplaned before swerving across a grassy median strip, where it then collided with several steel barriers before rolling onto its roof. The 28-year-old man behind the wheel managed to escape injury. However, his two female passengers, aged 17 and 18, were taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with suspected spinal injuries. Three lanes of the M1 had to be closed for a short period while the vehicle was removed. Investigations are ongoing.
