A man has been airlifted to hospital in a life-threatening condition following a horror crash in the Gold Coast hinterland this afternoon.
Two vehicles collided head-on along Waterford Tamborine Road at Tamborine around 3.30pm, with the impact causing one vehicle to erupt into flames.
The driver of that car, a man, suffered critical injuries and was flown to the Gold Coast University Hospital.
While the driver and passengers of the second vehicle sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Waterford Tamborine Road remains closed between the intersection with Plunkett Road and the roundabout connecting to Beaudesert Beenleigh Road as investigations continue.
Anyone with relevant dashcam or CCTV footage is being urged to come forward.
