The Premier will today unveil two new metro-style bus services linking the Gold Coast’s east and west.
It’s the latest stage of the government’s transport strategy for the city.
The routes will connect the coast with two of our heavy rail stations.
One will run from Broadbeach to Nerang via Carrara Stadium.
The second will operate between Miami and Robina via Bond University and Robina Town Centre.
It’s expected services will run every 15 minutes.
Those two routes had previously been identified as possible east-west light rail options.
Today’s announcement comes as we still wait for an official announcement on the opening of Light Rail Stage 3.
Ads promoting an August 2 start date accidentally appeared online this week before being pulled down.
Dozens of businesses along the new route from Broadbeach to Burleigh are still anticipating the opening will be happening this weekend with many of them promoting tram “parties”.
