Investigations are continuing after a vehicle ploughed into a Gold Coast cemetery, destroying a number of lawn plaques.
Police were called to Nerang Broadbeach Road in Nerang around 5.30pm on Saturday after a member of the public spotted the vehicle, a Honda Accord Euro, in the lawn cemetery.
“Investigators believe the car was travelling east, has gone down an embankment, hit two trees and stopped in the lawn cemetery,” Queensland Police said.
A number of lawn headstones were damaged by the vehicle.
The driver left the scene before emergency crews arrived, with investigators now appealing for the driver, or anyone with further information, to come forward.
Police have confirmed the vehicle was not listed as stolen.
