Police have confirmed they’re investigating an alleged bomb threat against the Gold Coast’s Home of the Arts theatre.
The “unverified threat” was made just after midday on Monday, forcing the evacuation of all buildings at the Surfers Paradise venue.
“Multiple crews attended and conducted thorough searches of the premises,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
“No suspicious items were located, and the buildings were declared safe”.
The venue reopened to the public around two hours later.
It’s since been revealed the threat was allegedly linked to a controversial Chinese dance group, which is due to open its Australian tour at HOTA tonight.
The Shen Yun performance group, which is banned in China, was also linked to a threat against the Prime Minister in Canberra.
Anthony Albanese was forced to evacuate The Lodge on Tuesday night after an email was sent, claiming that explosives had been placed around the property and would be detonated if performances by the group went ahead.
Security is being beefed up ahead of the concerts getting underway at HOTA tonight, however, police have confirmed there’s no ongoing threat to the community.
