A teenage boy has been found hiding under a table while trying to evade police, following a stolen car chase from the Gold Coast to Brisbane and back again.

Around 2.10am on Monday, police spotted two males travelling in a stolen red 2007 Hyundai i30 hatchback at Northgate, only a few hours after it had been taken from a home in Upper Coomera.

Officers attempted to intercept the vehicle, but it sped off and continued driving dangerously through the suburb.

It was then tracked all the way down to Currumbin Valley, where the two occupants abandoned the vehicle on Baines Road and fled on foot into nearby bushland.

Dog Squad officers were called in and tracked down one boy hiding under an outdoor table at a nearby property around 5.30am.

A 14-year-old Upper Coomera boy has since been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

A search continues to find the second male who was involved.
