Construction on the long-awaited Coomera Hospital is officially shifting into gear following the appointment of a major contractor to deliver the massive infrastructure project.
Earthmoving equipment is set to ramp up activity on the site next month, focusing heavily on critical civil works, retaining walls, and permanent stormwater management.
The milestone comes after an independent review exposed that previous plans for the site were severely under-scoped and underfunded.
Under the Crisafulli Government’s Hospital Rescue Plan, the project has been redesigned to incorporate 200 additional beds, ensuring a state-of-the-art 600-bed facility is capable of meeting the demands of the busy northern Gold Coast area.
Early foundation works have already broken ground, featuring substantial concrete pours alongside site remodelling and earthworks.
Activity is scheduled to expand rapidly next month as teams officially break ground on the multi-storey car park structure.
Staged delivery timelines have also been announced, with Stage 1 slated to open in 2031 followed immediately by Stage 2 in 2032.
