An investigation into a stolen truck has led to the arrest of a man following a series of incidents across the Gold Coast yesterday.

Police allege the 24-year-old stole an Isuzu FRR truck which was parked on the Ephraim Island Bridge at Paradise Point around 11am on Wednesday.

Around an hour and a half later, the truck was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run crash with a Mercedes-Benz C200 on Hope Island Road.

Thankfully the driver of the Mercedes escaped injury.

The man’s escapades came to an end around 1.30pm after he abandoned the truck on Ferry Road in Southport and fled on foot.

Following a short chase, the man was taken into custody by police.

He’s since been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving without a licence, failing to fulfill duties after a crash, and obstructing police.T
