A man’s brazen six-month crime spree has finally come to an end after a specialised police squad tracked down and arrested the alleged serial offender in Logan.
The successful bust was spearheaded by the newly established Respondent Accountability Team, an elite arm of the Logan Domestic, Family Violence and Vulnerable Persons Unit dedicated to hunting down high-risk offenders.
Police allege that between November 2025 and May 2026, the Yarrabilba man was behind the theft of tools, clothing, camping equipment and other merchandise from multiple retail stores in Springfield Central and Browns Plains.
He ramped up his offending in May, when the man allegedly broke into a BYD Sealion at Sunnybank’s Yimbun Park and stole a woman’s bank card before using it on seven occasions at businesses within Sunnybank Plaza.
Days later, the same man allegedly got behind the wheel while disqualified, stole fuel from a Yarrabilba service station, and later raided a Browns Plains hardware store on two separate occasions where he allegedly walked out with a Makita blower, paint, and two chainsaws.
The man was eventually arrested after police swooped on a North Maclean property on May 28 where they took the 28-year-old into custody.
He now faces a string of charges including nine counts of stealing, seven counts of fraud, and various traffic offences.
The man is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 3.
