The Titans have been dealt a crushing blow to their 2024 campaign, with confirmation skipper Tino Fa’asuamaleaui will be sidelined for the rest of the season.

Scans have confirmed the Gold Coast captain ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during Saturday’s Round 3 clash against the Bulldogs.

The 24-year-old was taken from the field at Belmore in the 62nd minute before being sent for scans in Sydney on Saturday night.

“The Titans can confirm Tino Fa’asuamaleaui will miss the remainder of the 2024 season after scans revealed the captain to have ruptured his ACL,” the club said in a statement.

“He will now meet with medical staff to outline his rehabilitation”.

It’s another devastating blow for the already injury-riddled side, with fullback Jayden Campbell and David Fifita still yet to return from their off-season operations.

It also leaves Maroons coach Billy Slater with a massive void to fill come State of Origin time, with Fa’asuamaleaui now joining fellow Queensland forward Tom Gilbert in the injury ward.
