Gold Coasters may want to keep the umbrella handy, with much of Queensland expected to cop a drenching over the next week.

The wet weather is set to start today, with around 15ml tipped to fall on the Gold Coast.

The rain will increase to around 25ml tomorrow, so those with outdoor plans on Tuesday may want to reschedule.

It looks like we won’t get a reprieve until at least next week, with showers expected to linger right through to the weekend.

The wet weather is thanks to a weather trough coming in from the west, with as much as 50ml expected in other areas of the southeast.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, the maximum temperatures will also be below average for this time of year due to the cloud cover.
