A Gold Coast man has become an overnight multi-millionaire after scoring the $8 million Oz Lotto jackpot.
The Main Beach dad held the only division one winning entry nationally in the 8 September draw.
The lucky winner’s got the life-changing news on his birthday.
He took a little longer to discover his fortune due to be being busy at work and unable to take the winning phone call from The Lott until late Wednesday afternoon.
“Oh my god! $8 million! I’ve won $8 million?! It’s my birthday today! How absolutely amazing. This is mind-boggling!” he told The Lott officials.
“Every Saturday, I take my wife out to dinner for a date-night, and I’m always saying, ‘Oh, they bloody didn’t ring us again!'”
“I’m going to wait until I finish work to tell her the great news. I don’t want to do it over a phone call. I’ll have to stop into the bottle-o and buy a bottle of champagne!”
The multi-million-dollar winner says the cash will be a huge help to him and his family.
“It’s been a tough time for my family and I. I’ve had some troubles with my health, so this has come at a good time,”
