Queensland school-leavers will begin arriving on the glitter strip today for the annual Schoolies event.

Around 20-thousand teens are expected at this year’s celebration, which officially kicks-off tomorrow.

There’ll be plenty of police patrolling the area, while ambulance services have also been boosted.

Thousands of volunteers are also preparing for the event, including from Red Frogs, Drug Arm, Lives Lived Well, Rosies and the Gold Coast Youth Service.

Schoolies is tipped to be a little more lowkey than usual this year, with new research showing the binge-drinking trend in teens is slowing.

More to come.
